Sundance is the largest independednt cinema festival its held yearly in the United States of America in the state of Utah, during the month of January in Park City, Salt Lake City and Ogen aswel as Sundance Resort it showcases new work from both America and worlwide independednt filmakers. The festival features both short film and feature length dramatic and documeary films. The festival aslo has non competitive showcase which are New Frontier, Spectrum and Park City @ Midnight.

Sundance began in 1978 in Salt Lake City in an effort to attract more filmakers to Utah, it was founded by Sterling Van Wagenen, John Earle and Cirina Hampton Catania. The goal of the festival was to showcase stricktly Ameriacn make films and highlight the potential of independent film making. The main focus of the festival was to hold competitions for independent American films and present a seris of retrospective films and filmakers panel dissussions and celebrate Frank Capra Award, the festival highlighted the work of filmakers that worked outside Hollywood.

Raindance

Raindance is the United Kingdoms largest independent film festival it was established in 1992 by Elliot Grove as an extention of the Raindance school activities and and a way of supporitng independent filmaking. In 2009 the festival was held in central London from september 30th to October 11th.
